Tucked away in America’s Appalachia between Atlanta and Chattanooga lays the “Apple Capital of Georgia”, the City of Ellijay. This town is a small retreat from the big cities, but don’t let that fool you. There is always something going on in this historic town, and there is surely something for you. The Apple Festival is in October each year but there is almost always something happening on the Square downtown. Live music, car shows, carnivals, antique sales are just a few of the exciting things you can find in Ellijay GA. The scenic mountain ranges surrounding the small city provide great hiking trails; the lakes in the area are awesome for fishing both dockside and on a boat. BLAIRSVILLE, GA
Between Atlanta and Knoxville lies the town of Blairsville, Georgia. This gorgeous town of about 650 residents lies within Union County, on the border of Atlanta and Tennessee, and is known as the “City of Mountains”. That’s because Blairsville is nestled within the Appalachian Mountain range and offers breathtaking views of one of America’s most unique countrysides. But, that’s not all Blairsville has to offer. Both residents and visitors alike always take advantage of what this small city has to offer, ranging from boating and fishing in Lake Nottely, Vogel State Park, waterfalls, horseback riding, hunting, whitewater rafting, the annual Sorghum Festival, Butternut Creek Golf Course, a wealth of restaurants available, and much more. Lake Nottely is also proud to boast two marinas, picnicking and camping grounds, and multiple public boat launches. Blairsville is also a listed Appalachian Trail Community, which ensures a scenic trail will always be maintained and provided to the people. YOUNG HARRIS, GA
Young Harris, Georgia is a quaint town in a historic area which actually boasts a modern and high-tech feature, Young Harris College. For years Young Harris was known only for Young Harris College, but in the past decade has gained fame as a relaxing golf and resort destination. The local businesses in the area provide great food, groceries, baked goods, legal services, saloons, home goods stores, and much more. It is quite the diverse town for its smaller size. It also has a current renewable energy project made possible by the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority. The GEFA Grant has allowed the City to install solar panels on 6 sites, including City Hall. These installations are operating satisfactorily and will provide a yearly cost savings equivalent to roughly the amount of power that City Hall uses every eighteen months. Young Harris serves the community as a small town with a neighborly atmosphere. It is a great area to settle down in, just like former Georgia Governor Zell Miller decided to do.

HIAWASSEE, GA
Tucked nicely in Towns County, Georgia, on the border of Georgia and North Carolina, lies the rustic and mountain-range town of Hiawassee. Hiawassee is an Appalachian Trail community. Like the other magnificent towns and cities we focus our real estate on, Hiawassee offers great mountain views and has a strong sense of community. Coming from the Cherokee word of Ayuhwasi, Hiawassee originally means ‘Meadow’. The population is roughly 810 people, but don’t let that fool you. This is a busy town right between Charlotte, North Carolina and Chattanooga, Tennessee.

With a small population of around 300 people, Hayesville truly serves as America’s small town. Hayesville is located within Clay County, which is the second fastest growing county in western North Carolina. MURPHY, NC
Murphy, North Carolina, is the county seat of Cherokee County located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. The downtown area is beautiful with tree lined streets and many historic buildings restored to their original state.
